U R F A T H E R The inspiration of this work is the sexual controversy that transpired among the leaders of the Church. The focal point of the composition is the priest, with a person almost hidden below inside his habit giving him pleasure, while his hand is gesturing silence and his head is looking up at his burning halo - innocent and ignorant of what is happening. Behind him, a stained glass effect painting of acrylic and pen and ink on paper, are images of clouds and angels with their wings, which appear to be his. On both lower sides are images of religious icons crying of disappointment. Beside the stained glass effect painting are black and white drawings of ghost-like figures of faces reacting and roses with watchful eyes. A plexi glass painted with fire overlaps the image - as if burning the priest. The whole work embodies the struggle of human weakness against his faith and the well-established doctrine. |
